Comprehensive, Accurate
and Affordable
The msi 4400A is the most comprehensive
8vsb monitor on the market today. A single screen provides
at-a-glance information on the most importand parameters of
the 8vsb signal.
Hardware
The msi 4400A Analyzer includes a single
rack unit controller that receives and evaluates the 8vsb
signal and relays the data to a Windows based PC. The front
panel indicators show the status of alarms and confirm RF
level and signal strength. External connections for Alarms,
LVDS, SMPTE 310M and DVB-ASI are all accessible from the rear
panel.
Software
The msi 4400A Analyzer's software runs
on a dedicated Windows-based computer. The software provides
a complete display that shows all the critical 8vsb parameters
in a clear easy to understand format
8vsb Analyzer
Page
This is the home screen of the msi 4400A's
software controls. It offers a comprehensive overview of the
8vsb signal. Key displays including Eye Pattern, SNR/MER/EVM,
Constellation, Signal Quality Meter, Alarm Status, Bit Error
Rate Display, Packet Error Display and Symbol Rate Deviation
data are all viewable from the home screen.
Eye Pattern
& Constellation Displays
The Eye pattern Diagram and the Constellation
Display are available as individual windows, and are user-configurable.
Both offer a Rolling mode, which is an average over time;
or Refresh mode where data is permitted to accumulate for
a period of time, is cleared and reaccumulated.
Alarms &
Alarm Logging
Extensive alarm capability permits user set
up of upper and lower alarm limits as well as notification
intervals in case of an alarm. All alarms can be set to trigger
e-mail notification. The unique Alarm Log stores all readings
for the 2 minutes prior to and after an alarm occurence.
Data Trend
File
The Trend File maintains a rolling year of
data. Trends are captured at hourly intervals and stored for
immediate or future analysis. The data is exportable to other
speadsheet files, such as Excel, at the click of a button,
permitting extensive data analysis capabilites. Parameters
logged include: signal quality, Lock, RF status, SNR, MER,
EVM, Pre/PostRS BER, packet error, symbol rate deviation and
spread.
Equilizer
Tap Energy
The most powerful analytical page of the msi
4400A allows extensive examination, analysis and manipulation
of the equalizer parameters.
Zero the taps to measure transmitter performance,
capture data to memory for graphic comparison of live readings,
freeze the FFE or DFE independently or simultaneously expand
the display in the Delay and Amplitude Axis. Graticule lines
permit accurate numerical readout of individual tap amplitude
and delay.

Strip Chart
SNR/MER/EVM
A virtual strip chart recorder displays 20
minutes of signal quality data; Choose from SNR/MER/EVM. The
msi 4400A's SNR measurement meets ATSC recommended
performance of at least 27dB S/N and provides sufficient capability
for measuring transmitters that exceed ATSC specifications
with the equalizers OFF.*
Fully Web
Enabled
A true web appliance, the msi 4400A
offers full internet compatibility. In herent high security
provides protection from hacking, while set-up options permit
"control" and read only functions. A user can access
the msi 4400A from any location and analyze the 8vsb
signal.
Packet Errors
This new feature displays Packet Errors per
second.
Symbol Rate
Deviation (ppm)
Provides the deviation from the ideal ATSC
symbol clock frequency in parts per million.
User Controlled
Line
A user-configurable hardware line can be controlled
from the home page.

Channel Rejection Filters
Designed for use with either the Tap Weight
Equalizer OFF or ON - depending on your measurement needs.
