The TVMM-1, TV ModMinder works with your wideband demodulator (such as the Modulation Sciences msi 320 or the Tektronix 1450-1) to give you a continuous "at a glance" status display of everything you need to know about your multichannel (MTS) aural signal:

  • Total Modulation Meter
  • Status of Subcarriers (SAP and PRO)
  • Overmodulation Peak Flasher
  • Injection Level of Subcarriers (SAP and PRO)

Economical MTS Monitoring
Because it works with your wideband precision demodulator, the TV ModMinder is far more accurate and far less expensive than traditional modulation monitors. The TV ModMinder does for routine operation what the Modulation Sciences SRD-1 Stereo Reference Decoder does for setup, testing, and maintenance of MTS audio.

Easy to Use
Total modulation percentage in the current operating mode is read precisely on a large, easy-to-read meter. In BTSC stereo, the deviation that equals 100% modulation changes, depending on which subcarriers are in use.

TV ModMinder autoranges to the correct deviation for any combination of subcarriers and displays the value in kHz that equals 100% modulation on a two-digit readout.

At-A-Glance Status Monitoring
The highly accurate peak flasher indicator is large and bright. TV ModMinder's specially driven long-life incandescent lamps are far more noticeable than LEDs. The status of the three subcarriers Stereo Pilot, SAP, and PRO is shown by a row of illuminated push buttons.

Press any of the lighted buttons and the meter displays the injection level for that subcarrier.

Versatile
A wideband demodulator will most often drive TV ModMinder. However, it can also accommodate any other source of BTSC composite. Input impedance is bridging.

TV ModMinder can be driven from the output of any stereo generator or it may bridge the output of a composite STL.
